On this 8th of November, we have witnessed a historic milestone in our collective journey toward reconciliation, unity, and the fulfillment of our shared hopes and aspirations as patriotic citizens of The Gambia.
The recent speech by President Barrow during the visit of former President Jammeh’s family marked a turning point, underlining the significance of this moment in the eyes of our Creator.
A poignant dream became a reality when I had the privilege of speaking with the Right Honourable Speaker of the House, Fabakary Tombong Jatta.
This opportunity, brought about by the Jammeh family’s efforts, allowed me to offer a heartfelt apology and express our family’s commitment to initiating a peaceful dialogue. This dialogue is the vital first step in our mission for peace and reconciliation.
The Speaker’s unwavering commitment to peace and reconciliation with President Jammeh, the entire party, and all citizens of The Gambia filled me with hope. It harkened back to the days when I urged the Speaker to share his perspective, a dream now manifesting before our eyes.
I am convinced that the Speaker will hear our plea for forgiveness and our call to unify the country. He acknowledged the complexities of political analysis and graciously excused our prior misunderstandings.
He reassured us that the younger generation would take the reins, and he would do everything in his power to facilitate reconciliation not only with President Jammeh but also with all stakeholders, recognizing that it is the only path to lasting peace, security, and stability in The Gambia and the broader region.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Right Honourable Speaker, the Executive Committee, and the Jammeh Family for providing us with this platform.
As promised, I pledge to engage tirelessly with Former President Jammeh, whether through the written word or vocal advocacy, until he hears our plea from near or far, by the grace of the Almighty.

To every citizen of The Gambia, including victims and survivors of various chapters in our history,
This is a moment to embrace reconciliation, forgiveness, and understanding. Regardless of the scars of our past, we find ourselves at a crossroads where unity can pave the way to a brighter future.
We extend a warm invitation to every Gambian, wherever you may be, to return to our homeland.
Let us unite to resolve grievances that have burdened us for too long. It is through unity that we can heal our wounds and start a fresh chapter in our lives and those of our future generations.
In unison, we can transcend the divides of history, building a stronger, more prosperous, and peaceful nation.
Let the “National Reconciliation Initiative for The Gambia” be the symbol of our unwavering commitment to this noble cause.
Together, we can create a Gambia where every citizen, regardless of their background, can look forward to a future filled with hope, respect, and opportunity.
Let us script a new chapter in our history, celebrating our diversity and embracing the unity that defines our nation.
With open hearts, let us move forward, forging a legacy of reconciliation, peace, and progress that will stand as a testament to the strength of the Gambian spirit.
