Unlawful Arrest of Main Opposition Leader, President Ousman Sonko:

3 min read

The recent events surrounding President Ousman Sonko, the main opposition leader, have sent shockwaves through the democratic fabric of Senegal.

His arrest and detention at the hands of the government of Macky Sall have evoked deep concern and outrage among both citizens and the international community.

The actions taken during the arrest, with President Sonko’s residence being violently raided and him facing fabricated charges, including accusations of stealing a mobile phone and inciting insurrection, raise serious questions about the government’s adherence to the rule of law and its respect for the rights of its citizens, especially those with opposing political beliefs.

Reports of state agents stalking and recording President Sonko during his visit to the mosque, seemingly to provoke a reaction and justify his arrest, further underscore a disturbing trend of government-sanctioned harassment and intimidation.

It is essential for the international community to respond to these violations of human rights and call for accountability from the government of Senegal.

President Sonko’s unjust detention serves as a glaring reminder of the deteriorating state of democracy and the stifling of opposition voices within the country.

As concerned citizens of SeneGambia, we stand united in demanding justice for President Ousman Sonko and for all those who have been unlawfully detained and silenced by the government.

The arrest of a key opposition leader not only infringes on his individual rights but also poses a threat to the very democratic principles that we hold dear.

In conclusion, we firmly condemn the unlawful arrest of President Ousman Sonko, the main opposition leader.

We call upon the international community to join us in advocating for justice and accountability from the government of Senegal.

The unlawful detention of President Sonko must not be allowed to suppress our voices or undermine the democracy that we cherish.

Together, we will persist in our pursuit of a future where the rule of law is upheld, and the rights of all citizens are respected.

Dictator Macky Sall, for your information, there’s nothing you, your rotten legal system and compromised judges can do to justify the disqualification of President OUSMAN SONKO from contesting the 2024 presidential elections, by the grace of The Almighty.

NB: “He’s the choice of the overwhelming majority of the entire population of Senegal and countless millions of Africans citizens around the world, and if anything happens to him, you won’t be getting away with that either. Guaranteed”.

Therefore, it’s best to release our beloved leader now, and stop playing with fire. A word is enough for the wise!
